Foster Land & Cattle is a father son operation in Hico, LA. Our goal is to
provide high quality forage for his registered Red Angus cow/calf herd 12
months a year. To accomplish this goal we emphasize the production of
cool-season annual grasses and legumes on existing Alicia and Coastal
bermudagrass pastures. By sod-seeding crimson clover, wheat and
ryegrass into these pastures, we are double-cropping our pastures and
producing forage 12 months a year. We practice innovative grazing
techniques such as, rotational grazing, limit grazing and first/last grazing to
efficiently utilize the forage produced and to extend the grazing season of
both cool and warm-season forages.
